Following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as the new head coach, one of the major talking points has been surrounding his backroom staff, with Los Blancos having been keen on bringing in a former player to help run things smoothly. Names ranging from Pepe to Ricardo Carvalho and Luka Modric have been doing the rounds, but it is former midfielder Sami Khedira who is all set to return to the Santiago Bernabeu . It is still unclear as to what role Khedira will assume in the backroom staff at Real Madrid, but as things stand, his return to the club is now only a matter of time. Strong partnership with Mourinho Khedira joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2010, with Mourinho being the one who brought him to the club during his first managerial stint with the club. The 39-year-old midfielder left the club in 2015, signing for Juventus, where he spent more than five years, before joining Hertha BSC, where he eventually retired in the summer of 2021. Following his retirement, Khedira briefly served as the Advisor of Management at German club VfB Stuttgart during the 2022/23 campaign. Now, he will return to Real Madrid as part of Mourinho’s backroom staff, aiming to help the club back to the top after two lean seasons.
